Two diaries kept by John Cuninghame from Mar. 1-Nov. 20, 1796 and from Jan. 1, 1819-Dec. 31, 1820. Entries describe the running of his estate in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The author records weather, local events, daily work, and health concerns. The earlier diary contains two medicinal recipes. A few entries concern the closing of the cotton mills and the ensuing riots, as well as the author's efforts to find work for unemployed workers.
